IN ACCORDANCE WITH GOVERNMENT REQUIREMENTS THE CEMETERY IS CLOSED EXCEPT FOR BURIALS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Therefore we have had to make some key decisions about the way in which the cemetery is operating over the next few weeks so please note the following:

1. The cemetery office is closed except for telephone contact until further notice. This includes the toilets in the visitor centre.

2. We will continue to operate a funeral service but this must be dealt with through your funeral director.

3. The clocks go forward on Saturday 28th March and this usually signals an extension to the cemetery grounds opening hours. However please note that, until further notice, the cemetery grounds will only be open from 9am until 3.30pm on Monday to Friday. As per my message yesterday, during these hours you can still use the cemetery grounds for your daily exercise provided that you live close and follow government guidelines.

4. The cemetery grounds will be closed and the gates locked every Saturday and Sunday until further notice.

We appreciate that this is going to cause some inconvenience to visitors and we apologise that we have found it necessary to take these steps. We will resume normal service as soon as practicable.

89901555 2858143444263517 7797323022045544448 o 209x300As the Visitor Centre will be closed for the next few weeks, the Heritage Team will be displaying the Exhibition posters, which they prepared for the first exhibition.

The Exhibition is called "History of Ford Park Cemetery - Celebrating 20 years of the Trust" and a new poster will be added every few days between 28 March and 14 May.

As you can't join us in the Visitor Centre we hope that you will enjoy the opportunity to share the research which the Heritage Team have carried out.

The Board of Trustees at Ford Park Cemetery has decided that from Monday 16th March and until further notice the Visitor Centre and cafe at the cemetery will be closed.

This means that the planned exhibition celebrating 20 years of the Trust which was due to run from Saturday 28th March will not take place, nor will the associated walk planned for Sunday 5th April.

The Spring Fayre which was planned for Saturday 21st March will not go ahead. We are hoping to reopen the Visitor Centre before the end of April but that will depend on events.

The offices at the cemetery will remain open during usual office hours.

89280662 2831823956895466 5427336523102027776 o 209x300The weather is terrible, and the news isn't any better so why not escape for a few hours over the weekend of 14/15 March and join us and the Dartmoor 009 group at their Model Railway presentation in the Visitor Centre.

The kids will love it but probably not as much as their dads!

We look forward to welcoming you.

54799306 2137521332992402 1928529277561602048 n 213x300Our first evening event of the year features Mad Dog Mcrea who are described as a British folk band from Plymouth.

Their music blends a mixture of folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz and bluegrass.

To get a taste of their music look them up on YouTube but to get the full experience you need to see them live.

Come and join us on Friday 5th April at the Railway Social Club, Pennycomequick.

The evening starts at 8pm and tickets are on sale now from the cemetery office priced £10.

Thank you to Maggie for organising the Spring Fayre and to our volunteers who helped to make this event a success.

The theme for this exhibition is accidental deaths.

Some of the people buried at the cemetery have died as a result of accidents which, in this day and age of health and safety, could have been prevented.

Others have taken risks and paid the ultimate price.

Our exhibition includes accidents involving trams, trains, aeroplanes, bicycles and even lions. We look forward to welcoming you to the visitor centre.
